In my 20+ years of financial planning, I have both worked for and owned financial planning practices. I started working at J. H. White in 2010, and am very happy to be associated with Jim and this client-orientated company.
I’m originally from Buffalo, NY, and graduated from Erie Community College with an Associate Degree in Electrical Technology. I don’t miss the snow and cold, but it is a beautiful place to visit in the summer and fall.
After a career as a manager with IBM I decided I had enough of weekly airplane trips and travel, and took an early retirement in order to pursue my first love of financial planning. I started my career in the industry in 1992, and obtained my general securities license (Series 7). In 1996 I passed the 2-day exam in 1996 and was awarded the Certified Financial Planner™ designation.
I live now in Paoli, PA, close to my family, including my five grandchildren. I enjoy condo living where I’m on the board of the condo association. When not in Paoli, I can be found in the Annapolis, MD. I’m an avid sailor and love the Chesapeake Bay. I’ve owned and sailed an Alberg 30 for many years on the Chesapeake and have chartered and captained bare boats on several trips in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands. I no longer own a boat and as they say, the two happiest days of a boater’s life are the day you buy the boat and the day you sell it!
The intellectual aspect of sailing has always appealed to me though, and I continue to be associated with several sailing organizations. The navigating and piloting is very much like the challenge of financial planning; the what-ifs and considerations associated with completing the puzzles of finance have always appealed to my logical side.
